All is set for the rollout of the Pensions Scheme for cocoa farmers by the National Pensions Regularity Authority on October 1.

Ahead of the new crop season, COCOBOD has procured digital weighing scales to be used in the scale of cocoa.

The CEO of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahene Aidoo told GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey that the decision to move from manual to digital weighing scales was informed by a research conducted by the Ghana Standards Authority which revealed that the manual scales were adjusted by as high as 14 kilos per bag by cocoa buyers.

He gave assurance that the digital scales cannot be tampered with.

Mr. Aidoo said COCOBOD has been compelled to put a hold on some of its Social Responsibilities due to challenges, however, initiatives like the Cocoa Scholarship have not been affected.
