The Ghana Agricultural and Rural Development Journalists Association (GARDJA) is rolling out an initiative with the Competitive Cashew initiative (GIZ/ComCashew), under the implementation of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (German International Cooperation), to increase media reportage on the cashew sector in Ghana.
Project activities include training for members, as well as creating platforms for the exchange of ideas between journalists, farmers, and other stakeholders in the cashew value chain.
In addition, some financial support is being made available to members of GARDJA and business/agricultural journalists all over the country to produce stories on the cashew sector.
The beneficiaries of this support will be carefully selected by a committee established by GARDJA, based on proposals submitted.
Members of GARDJA and business/agricultural journalists are by this notice requested to submit proposals for possible support.
Proposals covering the following areas and more will be considered;
1) Challenges in the cashew value chain and possible solutions
2) Sustainability of the cashew industry
3) Impact of ‘difficult to deal with stresses’ like climate change and Covid-19 on cashew production
4) Assessment of government policies on the cashew sector
5) Other thought-provoking cashew related ideas are also welcome
Radio, television, radio, and newspaper journalists can apply.
Your application or proposal must contain the following details:
1) Brief introduction of the applicant (Name, media organization, years of experience in practice, etc)
2) Story idea
3) Potential subjects/interviewees

This is the criteria the screening committee will apply in considering the proposals:
1) Accuracy: Precision, exactness, designations, titles, and spelling.
2) Relevance: Connectedness with content, focus on story/theme, appropriateness of content to subject matter
3) Impact: Impression or effect on farmers or society leading to change or solutions.
