COCOBOD denies importing cocoa beans from Cote d`Ivoire

drying cocoaGhana COCOBOD has denied importing Cocoa beans from Cote d`Ivoire.

It is rather a private company that imported cheaper beans from that country to augment what they have already purchased in Ghana.

The Public Affairs Manager of COCOBOD, Noah Amenyah said the installed capacity of all the cocoa processing companies in Ghana is 485,000 metric tonnes which is above the 129,000 metric tonnes produced by COCOBOD.

The shortfall compelled COCOBOD to allow Barry Callebaut Ghana Limited to import the smaller cocoa beans.

He told Radio Ghana’s Maxwell Yusifu that the importation of the smaller beans from Cote d’Ivoire is an indication that Ghana produces high quality beans.
