Ghana loses 4.6 billion cedis annually to the effects of child undernutrition.
There is therefore the need to put measures in place to address the challenges of under-nutrition.
This was contained in the “Cost of hunger in Africa Ghana report.”
The report recognises that though Ghana has made some progress in improving child nutrition over the past two decades by reducing chronic malnutrition from 23 to 19 percent, there is still more work to be done.
Speaking at the launch of the report in Accra, the Vice Chairperson of the National Development Planning Commission, NDPC, Dr. Esther Ofei-Aboagye, said eliminating under nutrition is not an option, but a must, hence the need for a cross sectoral approach
