Japan Motors Trading Company Limited (JMTC) has handed over a Yamaha outboard motor worth GH¢11,000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA).
The donation is to support this year’s National Farmers’ Day.
Abdul-Somad Alhassan Musah, Assistant Managing Director (MD) of Japan Motors, who was accompanied by JMTC’s Marketing Manager, Hilda Peasah handed over the outboard motor to the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Sherry Ayitey.
Mr. Alhassan Musah, in his remarks, noted that the donation was in fulfillment of JMTC’s pledge to continuously support the agricultural sector, especially ‘farmers who deserve extra motivation to give off their best to ensure the industry flourish.
He expressed optimism that the donation would enhance the theme for this year’s Farmers’ Day, ‘Transform Ghana: Invest in Agriculture.’
Ms Hilda Peasah, JMTC’s Marketing Manager, for her part, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the fishing industry.
‘Yamaha, a quality brand company, has in stock quality outboard motor and its accessories to drive the cause, she said.
Receiving the donation, Ms. Sherry Ayitey said the items received in support of the Farmers’ Day would go directly to the fishermen.
She commended JMTC for their support towards the Farmers’ Day and urged other corporate entities to emulate the kind gesture.
This year’s National Farmers’ Day, the 31st edition, would be held in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
