As Farmers Day draws near, institutions have started donating towards the event.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development has received items and cheques worth GH¢39,000.
The donations were from Seaworld Fishing Nets, Panofi Company, Ocean Fare, Ashanti Fisheries and Red Tulip Food.
Making a presentation of four tricycles and polo shirts worth GH¢27,000, the General Manager of HH Tercel Company, Mark Ma, said the donation forms part of the company’s social responsibility towards fishermen to enable them to get catch for the market.
The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Sherry Aryeetey expressed appreciation to the donors for recognising the contribution of fisheries towards national development.
In a related development, the Agricultural Development Bank has also donated 73 bundles of fishing net, and boxes of fishing twines to the Minister to assist fishermen along the coast whose equipment were destroyed by tidal waves last month.
