The 2016 Pan African agribusiness conference has opened in Accra.
Fifty African countries are attending the three days conference which is focusing on how to connect science, agriculture and the private sector to make agriculture a multi-billion dollar venture on the continent.
The target of the experts gathered at the conference is not only to make Africa food sufficient but to more importantly reposition the continent to compete with countries such as China and the US in agribusiness.
Food and agriculture Minister Alhaji Muniru Lemuna who opened the conference on behalf of President Mahama said the environment is right and the time for agribusiness to seize the moment is now.
Under the patronage of the African Agribusiness Incubator Network and FARA, the 2016 agribusiness and exhibition conference has three main agenda’s.
They are the role of science in agriculture, the private sector and agriculture and agriculture as the main drive of Africa’s economic and social security.
Guest of honour President Mahama whose address was delivered by food and agriculture Minister, Alhaji Muniru Limuna said Ghana prioritises agriculture and the strength it carries to change the fortunes of the economy.
It is in this regard that crops such as cocoa, cotton and cashew for instance have been given much attention

Danish ambassador to Ghana and other donor partners were at the meeting to offer fraternal support to the development of agriculture in Africa
