The Netherlands Development organization (SNV) has asked civil society organizations and the media to amplify their voices on food nutrition, water, sanitation, energy and food security in the country.
The SNV noted that these issues, which are of national importance, have not been given the needed attention by the media and CSOs despite how critical it affects society, over the years.
As part of efforts to raise more awareness and help address issues of food security and nutrion, water and sanitation, the SNV has developed a five-year programme dubbed ‘Voice for Change.’ The programme focuses on advocacy programme on the following four thematic areas: Food Nutrition, Food Security, Energy, Water and Sanitation.
The advocacy programme is an evidence based initiative being implemented by the SNV.
The program coordinator at SNV, Mr. Eric Banye, said, the organization wants to empower the media to deepen advocacy on policies that will have direct impact on the society.
Speaking at a two days residential training for some selected journalists from the Southern sector at Dodowa in the Greater Accra region, he implored the journalists to shift their attention to the most pressing issues affecting the Ghanaian society through agenda setting.
Mr. Charles Mawusi, a media consultant and a facilitator at the programme also called for a holistic approach in championing the V4C programme.
He called on the journalists to push for the need to adapt to renewable energy in other to preserve environment.
