Tomato prices drop for second consecutive time

details-august-12In the second week in August, tomato recorded the highest drop in price.

The price of a medium size tin of the produce declined by 7 percent to close the week at 6 cedis 80 pesewas.

This was followed by fresh tubers of cassava which price declined by 4 percent.

Three to four tubers of the commodity are now selling at 6 cedis 70 pesewas.

Meanwhile a medium tuber of yam dropped by 3 percent and it is now selling at 6 cedis 70 pesewas while a medium size tin of gari also lost 3 percent this week and it is now selling at 6 cedis 70 pesewas.

TomatoesAccording to Esoko Ghana, the prices of groundnut and soyabean also dropped this week.

Meanwhile the price of cowpea went up by a pesewa while the price of a medium size tin of tomato remained the same.

Esoko also reports that the prices of a medium size tin of fresh tomatoes declined in Accra, Techiman and Takoradi.

In Accra, the commodity could be sold to you at 5 cedis 40 pesewas; while in Techiman it could be sold to you at 3 cedis 90 pesewas.

Yet in Takoradi, the commodity could be sold to you at 9 cedis 70 pesewas
